Hello and welcome to my counselling website. My name is Sharon and I am a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor.
If you are thinking about accessing counselling, the first step can feel daunting. Understandably you may be wondering what counselling can do for you, what it might feel like and why you can’t just resolve your problems on your own. You may also be thinking that a good chat with a friend or family member would be enough.
The purpose of counselling is to provide you with a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space to explore your thoughts and feelings. You will experience what it is like to be truly heard and understood with no hidden agenda. It is the unique relationship that you experience with your counsellor that provides the fertile ground for personal growth, emotional healing and increased self-awareness.
When caught in the depths of your own struggle your more private thoughts might sound like: "I’m not ok but I don’t know why." "How can I be surrounded by people but still feel alone?" "Why do I do these things over and over again?" "I don’t know who I am." "My mind never switches off." "It was never meant to be like this." "Why me?" "Is this it?"
I will work with you to help you feel less alone and lost. I will help you to understand yourself better, identify old patterns of relating and emotional triggers. Together we will identify limiting beliefs that may be affecting your relationships and life choices. Throughout your work with me you will discover your own solutions, and develop coping strategies, skills and tools to take forward in your life.
You have taken the first single step by opening this website. Please take a moment more to look around my site and feel free to contact me via phone or email to get answers to some of your questions. You can also find out more about my qualifications, experience and how I work as a psychotherapeutic counsellor
I provide an initial, no obligation, assessment which gives you the opportunity to meet me and get a feel for my therapy room and how I work. It also allows me to hear some of your story and what you are hoping to get from counselling, I can then assess whether I am able to provide the service you are looking for or help you find a more appropriate route.
I work with individuals on a one-to-one basis and also couples who are looking for support, direction and insight.
I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and an accredited member of the UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy) I offer private and confidential counselling in Gunthorpe, Peterborough PE4, Cambridgeshire.
My role is to provide you with an opportunity to explore any personal difficulties you may be having in a safe, non-judgmental, supportive and confidential environment. I believe the key to appropriate and effective counselling lies in the unique and honest relationship experienced between client and therapist.
